The Chinese Society of Geriatrics issued the group standard of Clinical Nutrition Management Service Standards for Elderly Patients
On May 2, 2022, T/CGSS 025-2022, the group standard "Clinical Nutrition Management Service Specification for Elderly Patients", numbered T/CGSS 025-2022, was officially released with the participation of the Geriatric Medical Institution Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, the International Exchange Working Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society, and the Geriatric Training and Consulting Center of the Beijing Medical Federation.
Malnutrition is a common geriatric syndrome with a high incidence in elderly hospitalized patients. The results of the national nutrition survey of elderly hospitalized patients show that the incidence of malnutrition is about 15%, and the risk of malnutrition accounts for 50%. The nutritional status of elderly inpatients is closely related to clinical outcomes, and malnutrition can lead to prolonged hospital stay, increased postoperative complications, functional dependence, infection and increased mortality. A large number of clinical nutrition management practices have proved that for elderly patients, early identification of nutritional risks and nutritional treatment can improve clinical outcomes. It is of positive significance to construct clinical nutrition department or to give clinical department the management ability of geriatric nutrition.
In order to reduce a series of acquired problems caused by malnutrition in elderly hospitalized patients, promote rapid recovery of patients and maintain good function, the Chinese Geriatric Society organized domestic experts to compile group standards for Clinical Nutrition Management Services for Elderly Patients based on the relevant spirit of the Guidelines for the Construction and Management of Clinical Nutrition Departments issued by the national health authorities. The aim is to improve clinicians' awareness of malnutrition and nutritional risks in elderly inpatients, focus on the process and requirements of clinical nutrition management services for elderly patients, standardize clinical nutrition management services in medical institutions, including the implementation and supervision of nutritional screening and assessment, nutritional diagnosis, nutritional treatment, and nutrition education, and improve clinical nutrition diagnosis and treatment capabilities and management service level. We will ensure the quality and safety of medical care.
The Chinese Geriatric Society will continue to meet the needs of the elderly health services as the guidance, continue to refine and expand the compilation of relevant standards, make a series of systems, promote the standardized development of elderly health services, and contribute to healthy aging.
