To further promote collaborative development among various regions and steadily advance the construction of a Healthy China, on the morning of September 10th, an expert team jointly formed by the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army) and the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, among other organizations, traveled to Lanzhou, Gansu Province, to carry out a large-scale free medical consultation event titled "10,000 Mile Journey for Elderly Medical Staff at the Grassroots Level". Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and Honorary Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (PLA General Hospital), and Professor Cao Feng, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (PLA General Hospital), Professor Zeng Qiang, deputy director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and deputy director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (PLA General Hospital), Professor Tong Zhanqi, vice president of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, Professor Xu Shiping, vice president of the Oncology Branch, and other experts participated in this event. This event is a practical measure to serve the grassroots with high-quality medical resources and benefit the people of Northwest China. It fully demonstrates the high sense of social responsibility and mission commitment of the relevant units and medical experts.
This free medical consultation event features a strong lineup, gathering over a hundred medical experts from academic societies and centers, renowned hospitals, and local grassroots hospitals. They cover multiple key disciplines such as geriatrics, cardiology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and traditional Chinese medicine, providing authoritative diagnosis and treatment as well as national-level health consultation services for local residents.

On the morning of the event, the square in front of the hospital's outpatient building was crowded with people. Citizens who came upon hearing the news queued up in an orderly manner under the guidance of the staff to wait for their turn. The experts patiently inquired about the medical history, carefully reviewed the examination reports, answered questions, and provided precise and professional treatment advice plans. A fast-track medical treatment channel was also set up on the spot to achieve efficient diversion, ensuring that nearly ten thousand people who come to the hospital's outpatient department during the concentrated time period can still receive high-quality medical service guarantees. Meanwhile, by establishing a wechat communication group for specialized departments, it provides continuous support for patients' subsequent consultations and health management, truly achieving "one-time visit, long-term care". Through the half-day free medical consultation event in the morning, a total of 3,901 people registered for treatment, over 7,000 people received free expert consultations, and more than 100 people were admitted to the hospital. Lanzhou is nearly 2,000 kilometers away from Beijing. Today, renowned experts from across the country are providing free medical treatment right at our doorstep. We patients feel that the experts are very kind and the service is very considerate. We are really grateful... The experts have provided national-level high-quality and efficient medical service guarantees, earning wide acclaim from patients. This event also presented the "Caring for the Elderly" series of books to grassroots hospitals.

The successful holding of this event has received wide acclaim from local residents. It has laid a solid foundation for relevant units to provide in-depth guidance and assistance to grassroots hospitals in improving the comprehensive medical service level of the local area and offer local residents more high-quality, efficient and convenient medical services in the future.
