The Chronic Disease Prevention and Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics launched a series of free medical consultation activities for the 37th Patriotic Health Month, with the theme of "Party Flag Leading Health, General Practice Services Warming People's Hearts"
On April 13, 2025, after experiencing heavy rainfall in Shenyang, the temperature dropped sharply. However, in the outpatient hall of the Heping Campus of the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command, it was warm and cozy. The "Health Light, General Practice Shining" themed free medical consultation event, meticulously organized by a team of experts led by Professor Liu Yanxia, a standing committee member of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control and Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the director of the General Practice Department of the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command, was held as scheduled. With concrete actions, they implemented the Healthy China strategy and served over 120 people.
First, multi-dimensional collaboration highlights professional advantages
Under the call and meticulous organization of Professor Liu Yanxia, this free medical consultation brought together five experts from the fields of cardiology, neurology, oncology, and geriatrics. The event site was equipped with three functional areas: the "Health Check-up Report Interpretation Area", the "Three Highs Co-Management Diagnosis and Treatment Area", and the "Chronic Disease Management Consultation Desk". Nurse-in-charge Li Anna led the nursing team to conduct blood pressure, blood sugar and muscle strength tests for the public, establish health records, and achieve the full-process service of "screening - diagnosis - intervention - nursing".
Second, typical cases demonstrate the warmth of service
Director Liu, I've been feeling dizzy, chest tightness and shortness of breath recently. My blood sugar is not well controlled either. I've taken a lot of medicine but it hasn't improved! \ "" Ms. Zhang, 68 years old, came here with a thick layer of examination forms, attracted by its reputation. After a detailed consultation and medication verification, Director Liu Yanxia found that as the patient had been prescribed multiple medications in different departments, there were issues of repeated medication and drug interactions. She immediately adjusted the treatment plan and established a follow-up file. I used to have to visit several departments, but today I solved all the problems at once! \ "" Ms. Zhang sighed. For such complex cases, the expert team handled a total of over 30 cases on that day.
Iii. Innovate models to build a service closed loop
A "Smart Health Station" was specially set up at the event site. Through the "1+1+N" service model (1 health record +1 personalized guidance +N follow-up visits), over 80 electronic health records were established for citizens. The concurrent popular science lecture on "Joint Management of Three Highs and Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Diseases" was held in the form of scenario simulation and interactive Q&A, and over 100 copies of popular science materials such as the "General Practice Booklet" were distributed on the spot.
Director Liu Yanxia stated that in the future, she will continue to lead the cooperation between the society and the department, carry out such activities benefiting the people, and contribute more to enhancing the health literacy of the entire population.
