Recently, the "Chinese Elderly Hypertension Management Guidelines 2023"; revised by the Hypertension Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, the Beijing Hypertension Prevention and Control Association and the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases was officially published in the Chinese Journal of Hypertension.

The guideline is an update of the 2019 edition of the guideline, "China Elderly Hypertension Management Guideline 2023"; cites the recently published epidemiological and clinical research evidence based on elderly hypertension in China, more emphasis on the balance between safety and effectiveness in the diagnosis and treatment of elderly hypertension, highlighting the importance of out-of-office blood pressure measurement in the diagnosis and treatment of elderly hypertension. It enriched the relevant contents of elderly hypertension combined with fthenia, cognitive dysfunction and multiple organ dysfunction, updated the drug treatment recommendations of elderly hypertension and its accompanying diseases, expanded the scope of elderly hypertension special population, and further optimized the management strategy of elderly hypertension.
