The Compilation of "Psychiatric Practice Guidance for Early Alzheimer's Disease Pathway" Was Officially Launched
On July 13, 2023, in Tianjin, in a combination of online and offline way, the "Psychiatric Practice Guidance on the Diagnosis and Treatment Path of Early Alzheimer's Disease" (hereinafter referred to as "practice guidance"), sponsored by the Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, was held. 
This ";practice guidance" was prepared in light of the July 6, 2023, announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the new Alzheimer's disease drug lecanemab-irmb (trade name LEQEMBI?) would be converted to traditional approval. This is the first Alzheimer's drug to target beta-amyloid from accelerated approval to traditional approval, and the first Alzheimer's drug to receive full FDA approval in 20 years, marking the beginning of the era of disease modifying therapy (DMT) for Alzheimer's disease Come.
In order to fully prepare for the innovation of the diagnosis and treatment path of Alzheimer's disease and better guide the clinical treatment practice of psychiatrists, the Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society responded quickly and took active actions - as President Xin took the lead, Vice President Professor Wang Hualian organized the implementation and formed a "practice guidance" expert writing team. And held the preparation work of the starting meeting.
The launch meeting was chaired by Professor Wang Huili. Professor Yu Xin opened the meeting and introduced the writing background of the "Practical Guidance". After that, Professor Wang Huili reported the writing outline, and the experts of the editorial board had a heated discussion on the writing outline. The experts agreed on the importance and necessity of this preparation work, and put forward some specific opinions on each part of the preparation outline. The editorial board includes experts from a variety of disciplines, including geriatric psychiatry and neurology.
In his concluding speech, Professor Yu Xin stressed that psychiatrists need to keep pace with The Times, grasp the cutting-edge progress of the accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and DMT, give full play to their professional advantages and specialties, actively welcome the arrival of the DMT era of Alzheimer's disease, and better serve the majority of elderly patients with standardized clinical practice.
After this launch, the editorial Board will continue to rapidly advance the writing work. It is expected that this "practical guide" will promote the practice of geriatric psychiatrists in the DMT The clinical practice skills of The Times help the development of the discipline.
